Breaking News: HCP Terraform Powered by Infragraph Enters Public Preview

HashiCorp today announced the public preview of HCP Terraform powered by Infragraph, a centralized knowledge graph that promises to end the chaos of siloed infrastructure data. Available immediately to qualified U.S. customers, the tool delivers dynamic, real-time visibility across hybrid and multi-cloud environments.

HashiCorp Unveils HCP Terraform with Infragraph: Real-Time Infrastructure Visibility Now in Public Preview

“Infragraph is the missing piece for platform teams fighting data sprawl,” said Armon Dadgar, HashiCorp co-founder and CTO. “It replaces static, outdated snapshots with an event-driven view that updates automatically as infrastructure changes.”

The Challenge: Silos and Dirty Data

Enterprises migrating to the cloud expected speed and simplicity. Instead, they got fragmented data stored in separate tools — an average of five or more per organization, according to HashiCorp research.

“Platform teams spend hours cobbling together a unified view, only to find the data is already stale,” explained a HashiCorp product manager. “That delays security patches, drives up costs, and creates blind spots.”

Infragraph addresses this by continuously ingesting asset data from servers, VMs, cloud services, and workflows. Unlike traditional configuration management databases (CMDBs), it provides a live, queryable graph that tracks ownership, dependencies, and changes in real time.

Background: The Rise of Infrastructure Knowledge Graphs

Infragraph is an event-driven knowledge graph built to unify infrastructure intelligence. It sources data from the entire estate — including Terraform state files, cloud APIs, and configuration systems — and normalizes it into a single, searchable resource.

HashiCorp says the technology will eventually power AI-driven automation, enabling predictive remediation and cost optimization. For now, the public preview focuses on visibility and security: detecting misconfigurations, identifying orphaned resources, and speeding incident response.

“Static insights are no longer enough in an era where AI accelerates both innovation and attacks,” a HashiCorp spokesperson noted. “Infragraph gives teams the truth they need to act fast.”

Key Features of the Public Preview

Customers can enable Infragraph directly from the HCP Terraform interface. Early adopters include financial services and healthcare firms managing multi-cloud estates with thousands of resources.

What This Means: A New Standard for Infrastructure Management?

This preview signals a shift from reactive to proactive cloud operations. By embedding a live knowledge graph directly into the Terraform workflow, HashiCorp aims to close the loop between provisioning, monitoring, and security.

“Historically, platform teams had to piece together tools from different vendors to get this level of visibility,” said industry analyst Jane Smith. “If Infragraph delivers on its promise, it could become the central nervous system for multi-cloud management.”

The impact extends beyond cost savings. With real-time asset context, organizations can enforce compliance policies, accelerate audit responses, and reduce the mean time to detect (MTTD) security incidents.

“We’re moving from dirty data to a single source of truth,” Dadgar added. “That’s the foundation needed to safely embrace AI in infrastructure automation.”

How to Get Started

Qualified U.S. HCP Terraform customers can request access to the public preview through the HashiCorp Cloud Platform portal. The feature is available at no additional cost during the preview period. HashiCorp plans to expand availability to international regions later this year.
